Janko Tipsarevic makes a return trip to the quarterfinals in Flushing Meadows as he takes out Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets on Wednesday. Tipsarevic will go up against David Ferrer with the winner to be a part of Super Saturday.
Janko Tipsarevic took care of Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-2 in the fourth round of the U.S. Open on Wednesday afternoon. Tipsarevic held 14 of 15 service games and abused his opponent's second serve to reach the quarterfinals after two hours and 23 minutes.
This one had been suspended overnight due to rain with Tipsarevic leading 5-2 in the first set. After Kohlschreiber held to stay in the opener, the world No. 9 closed it out with a routine hold.
Decisive moments came during the second, especially after Tipsarevic failed to finish off the proceedings on serve at 5-4. Kohlschreiber was granted a new lease on life and seemed to be on the verge of capitalizing on it when he seized a mini-break for a 4-3 lead in the tiebreaker. Tipsarevic got it right back, however, and converted set point on Kohlschreiber's serve when the German struck an errant backhand.
From there it was all over Kohlschreiber, who was coming off consecutive five-set victories at the expense of Benoit Paire (in a final tiebreaker) and John Isner (ended at 2:26 a.m. on Monday morning). An early break allowed Tipsarevic to take complete control of the match and he capped off the win in style with another break at 5-2.
The eighth-seeded Serb fired nine aces while double-faulting twice and he won a whopping 62 percent of Kohlschreiber's second-serve points. Kohlschreiber recorded 12 aces and four doubles.
Tipsarevic will go up against No. 4 seed David Ferrer on Thursday. Ferrer rolled over Richard Gasquet during fourth-round action on Tuesday.

How can tennis be more interesting when you have Nole meeting Tipsy?? They are basically playing the same style, only Nole is better! To me Tipsy always choke during big moments, especially against top four guys.
Delpo vs Nole, or Delpo vs Ferrer may be more interesting because of difference in styles. Actually tennis is more interesting with the contrast in styles.

No, Tipsy always gives his best when meeting Nole. He is a tad lesser player but can really give Novak a lot of trouble. I do think their matches are interesting.
I was saying that tennis in general seems to be more interesting when you don't have one of the top 4 competing. Instead of having Rafa (now) against Ferrer or Tipsy, where you would be looking at a pretty straightforward Rafa win, we'll see those two having a probably great match.

Now you don't have Rafa but you have Nole. Seriously Nole vs Ferrer, do you think it's anymore interesting than Rafa vs Ferrer? Tipsy vs Nole isn't interesting in my eyes because they play similar style tennis.
I think only guys like Delpo, Berdych and Tsonga could make it interesting against the top four, and Ferrer on clay maybe. An on fire Raonic or Simon too. I feel that Tipsy beats Nole when Nole wasn't playing his best tennis, like the WTF last year and on blue clay this year.

Janko vs. Ferrer is gonna be one hella match. They are both great fighters and extremely skillful. I hope I'll be able to watch that! ;) And in case that Tipsarevic plays Nole, you can't be certain of Nole winning because Janko seems to always be super motivated against him. No matter what anyone says, tennis is quite interesting without Rafa (although, certainly not the same. He is missed).
