Defending champ Novak Djokovic upended Julien Benneteau to advance to the round of 16 in New York.

Serbian world No. 2 Novak Djokovic continued to look impressive at the US Open. His latest victim was Frenchman Julien Benneteau, the No. 31 seed. Djokovic completely dismantled Benneteau, The Serb never once got in trouble on his serve. He went through 3 sets without facing a break point.
Benneteau was broken 5-times in the match as Djokovic unleashed his world class return game on the Frenchman. Djokovic finished the match with 13 aces, 41 winners and just 12 unforced errors. He will take on Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka in the fourth round.
Juan Martin Del Potro (7) def. Leonardo Mayer 6-3, 7-5, 7-6(9)
It was a battle of Argentines as Juan Martin Del Potro took on countryman Leonardo Mayer in the US Open third round. The No. 7 seed won the first set fairly routinely, but it still wasn't Del Potro at his best. He allowed Mayer to get a foothold in the match in the second and third sets. Del Potro benefited from poor play from Mayer at crucial moments in the match, which allowed him to win in straight sets.
Del Potro spent more than 3 hours on court, with his movement looking slightly lethargic. He will take on Andy Roddick in the fourth round.
