World No. 52 Martin Klizan advanced to the third round after upsetting fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Thursday. The 23-year-old converted seven of 19 break points en route to a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory in two hours and 12 minutes.
"I was coming to the match to play a very solid game," said Klizan. "I wanted to play really good tennis to play with the top star player. I played very, very well today. I was concentrating each point and I won; I'm very happy that I did."
"Today I was not in good shape," said Tsonga. "I didn't play good tennis. It seemed like I couldn't hit the ball enough hard to put my opponent out of position. I don't really know why it was like this today, but sometimes it's happen with me."
Klizan is slated to face 32nd seed Jeremy Chardy for a place in the round of 16.
