Djokovic makes quicker work of Seppi in Cincy Novak Djokovic kicks off his Cincinnati campaign with a straight-set win over Andreas Seppi on Wednesday. Djokovic is through to third-round meeting with Nikolay Davydenko.

Novak Djokovic took care of Andreas Seppi 7-6(4), 6-2 in the second round of the Western & Southern Open on Wednesday afternoon. Djokovic, who had to recover from two sets down to beat Seppi at the French Open, survived a tough first set then pulled away to advance in one hour and 30 minutes.

Seppi stayed competitive in the opener, saving one break point in his first service game, two more at 2-3, and three set points at 4-5. Djokovic held comfortably throughout after battling through a deuce game to begin the match.

The ensuing tiebreaker saw Djokovic convert a quick mini-break for 2-0 when Seppi struck a forehand error. The second-ranked Serb extended his lead to 4-1 before giving back a mini-break at 5-3 via a Seppi backhand winner. Djokovic ended the set with two straight points on return, both courtesy of forehand errors by his opponent.

From there it was all over for Seppi. The world No. 27 saved one break point to hold his opening service game of the second, but he soon double-faulted on break point at 1-1 to seal his fate. Djokovic held his serve the rest of the way while adding another break for good measure at 3-1. He capitalized on his first match point with a forehand volley winner.

Djokovic recorded six aces and no double-faults and he did not face a single break point. Next up for Cincinnati's No. 2 seed is Nikolay Davydenko, a straight-set winner over Florian Mayer.
