Hewitt takes out Youzhny in first round upset The resurgent Lleyton Hewitt continued his impressive summer form with a straight-set 6-4, 6-4 victory over Mikhail Youzhny.

Denis Istomin def. Julien Benneteau 6-3, 6-1

Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin had a perfect start to his first-round match with Frenchman Julien Benneteau. Istomin began with four straight aces to hold at love. Benneteau managed to hold in his first service game, but Istomin got the break advantage in his next service game to take the one-set lead.

Immediately following the first set, Benneteau called for the trainer for a sore shoulder. The Frenchman toughed the set out, but he was soundly outplayed by Istomin from all areas of the court. Benneteau would only win one more game.

Istomin awaits the winner of Andy Roddick and Jeremy Chardy in the second round.

Lleyton Hewitt def. Mikhail Youzhny 6-4, 6-4

Australian veteran Lleyton Hewitt dispatched No. 28 seed Mikhail Youzhny in a first-round upset – at least on paper. Hewitt is ranked 134th in the world, but he has re-found his form of late and plays at a much higher level than other players ranked outside the Top 100.

Both men fought hard to hold in their first service games. Youzhny fought off one break point, while Hewitt battled four of them. It was the Australian who drew first blood at 2-2, but Youzhny broke right back to level the match at 3-3.

Youzhny wasn't able to keep up with the Aussie for long, however. Hewitt once again poured on the pressure and secured a second service break at 4-4, which allowed him to serve out the set for the lead.

The Russian had one lapse of concentration in the first game of the second set. But it was enough to give Hewitt the break of serve, which he held onto for the rest of the match.

Cheryl, i can't believe you remembered that Istomin started the match with four consecutive first-serve aces in the very first game!
