  • Murray skips past Cipolla

    8/9/12 3:08 AM | Cheryl Murray
Murray skips past Cipolla Gold medalist Andy Murray began his Toronto campaign with a straight-set second-round win over Italy's Flavio Cipolla.

Andy Murray's 6-1, 6-3 win over Flavio Cipolla wasn't quite as easy as the scoreline suggests. Murray wasn't invincible on serve. The Scot faced down six break points with Cipolla earning a trio in each set. The difference in the match was that Murray played well on all the points that mattered.

The Scot went four for nine on break points converted and six for six on break points saved. But the match was not without problems for Murray.

The world No. 4 was forced to call the trainer to attend to his left knee and he was seen limping a bit around the court.

Murray's win sends him into the third round, where he is slated to take on Canadian Milos Raonic; sure to be a crowd-pleaser provided that Murray is fit enough to make a match of it.
