• Isner takes on Andujar in Toronto

    8/7/12 3:56 AM | Cheryl Murray
Isner takes on Andujar in Toronto American John Isner is back on North American hard courts after a quarterfinal showing on grass at the London Olympics.

John Isner is hovering just outside of the Top 10 at No. 11 in the world. The American won his first title of the season in Newport and followed that up with a semifinal showing in Atlanta. The run, along with his quarterfinal appearance in London, is his best of the 2012 season.

His second-round opponent will be Spain's Pablo Andujar, a player who hasnt won a match since the first round of Roland Garros.

Andujar is ranked 44th in the world, but he has a losing record for the year, posting a 15-19 mark so far.

Isner is a much better hard-court player than Andujar, who is considered a clay-court specialist. The No. 8 seed possesses a monster first serve that is difficult to return on the quicker hard courts.

Prediction – Isner should have a relatively easy path into the third round. The American in straight sets.
