Querrey wins third title in Los Angeles Second seed Sam Querrey sealed his third title-winning run at the Farmers Classic, having upended Lithuanian qualifier Ricardas Berankis in straight sets.

World No. 57 Sam Querrey added ATP World Tour title number 7 to his tally on Sunday, following his 6-0, 6-2 ousting of first-time finalist Ricardas Berankis. The 24-year-old American ran out to a 6-0, 3-0 lead before surrendering his first game of the match.

“I feel like I always play well here,” said Querrey. “I grew up kind of playing around this area and I’m really comfortable out there on the courts. It’s fun to play in front of my friends and family. It all came together this week, and especially today.”

Querrey reached triple match-point at 5-2, then closed once Berankis committed a backhand error.

“My nerves were playing me in the first set, that’s for sure,” Berankis confessed. “I didn’t play as I would like to play. But in the second set, a couple games here and there, I loosened up a little bit.

“The crowd helped me very much to relax because of the support I got here; I really wasn't thinking (there would be) this kind of big support for me. Even though I was nervous, I enjoyed my first ATP final, and I’m looking very much forward to another tournament.”

Querrey completed the championship match with 8 aces, 17 winners and five service breaks.
