    Los Angeles - Querrey moves on, Mahut upset Two-time champion Sam Querrey is through to the Farmers Classic final four following the retirement of opponent Xavier Malisse. The American is joined by qualifier Ricardas Berankis, who upset 4th seed Nicolas Mahut.

    Second seed Sam Querrey advanced to the semifinals after opponent Xavier Malisse retired in the second set. The 24-year-old American had dropped just five points on serve when the Belgian called it a day at the 37-minute mark.

    Querrey is slated to face fellow American Rajeev Ram for a place in the championship final. Ram defeated 3rd seed Leonardo Mayer in the quarterfinals, 7-6(3), 6-3.

    (Q) Ricardas Berankis def. (4) 6-4, 6-4

    Qualifier Ricardas Berankis reached his first tour-level semi, having upended 4th-seeded Frenchman Nicolas Mahut in straight sets. The 22-year-old Lithuanian held ten of 10 service games en route to a 6-4, 6-4 victory in 90 minutes.

    Berankis moves on to meet 6th seed Marinko Matosevic in the next round. The Australian dismissed veteran Michael Russell in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-3.
