Haase beats Kohlschreiber to defend Kitzbuhel title Robin Haase successfully defends his Kitzbuhel title as he overcomes Philipp Kohlschreiber in three sets on Saturday. Both players will move on to London for the Olympics.

Robin Haase won the bet-at-home Cup for a second straight year on Saturday afternoon when he defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-2. Haase saved a whopping 13 of 14 break points as he prevailed in two hours and seven minutes.

A tight first set saw both players hold serve the entire way. However, Kohlschreiber had six break chances without facing a single break point on his own serve. The German's superiority showed in the tiebreaker, which he dominated seven points to two.

The rest of the way, though, it was almost all Haase. Kitzbuhel's No. 3 seed began to abuse his opponent's second serve and he broke serve three times--including at 5-3 to force a third set in style.

Having blown an opportunity to close things out in straights, Kohlschreiber disappeared in every way in the decider. Down a break and returning at 2-4, the world No. 23 drew a point penalty for racket abuse that cost him any chance of breaking back. Haase added a final break for good measure at 5-2, clinching victory when Kohlschreiber sent a forehand well wide.

Both competitors will have a quick turnaround heading into the first round of the London Olympics on Sunday. Haase has a tough draw against Richard Gasquet while Kohlschreiber is facing Blaz Kavcic.

Dumb move by Kohli. Didn't win here and now will likely have nothing left in the tank for London.

Kohlschreiber is playing the best tennis of his career right now and is trying to make some money. He is prone to injury so playing this many tournaments it too much for him. The Olympics will be his 6th tournament since Wimbledon. I think he has played around 20 matches.

Sorry, meant to say "since the grass court season". Kohls played 2 grass tune ups, Wimby then 2 clay events. Olympics would have been tournament #6.
