    7/24/12 2:50 AM | Kelli DeMario
Paire, Querrey headline field in Los Angeles Two-time champion Sam Querrey makes his return to the Farmers Classic, as the ATP World Tour continues its hard-court season for the final week of July. Frenchman Benoit Paire enters the draw as the top seed.

World No. 50 Benoit Paire is back on court following a second-round loss to Latvia's Ernests Gulbis in Gstaad. The 23-year-old will be making his debut in Los Angeles, having compiled a 20-16 season record.

Paire tops a competitive half of the draw that includes (4) Nicolas Mahut, (6) Marinko Matosevic and (7) Bjorn Phau.

Additional players in the same section are Jesse Levine, Michael Russell, Paolo Lorenzi, Dudi Sela, Igor Andreev and former world No. 4 James Blake.

Paire is slated to commence his run against either Levine or Russell.

Two-time Los Angeles title winner Sam Querrey leads the bottom half alongside fellow seeds (3) Leonardo Mayer, (5) Xavier Malisse and (8) wildcard entrant Brian Baker, who makes his Farmers Classic debut this week.

The 24-year-old will open his bid against Igor Sijsling or wildcard compatriot Steve Johnson.

World No 50 to win the title?

tennis2011 , 7/27/12 6:36 PM

Sam should win this title coz he's the best of the bunch that's remaining in the draw. Here's hoping Sam wins this one.

I don't understand why Young got picked for the US Olympics team instead of Sam.Or maybe, it was Sam's choice to play in LA? Could be that he felt he could win the LA title as opposed to his chances of winning a medal are most probably nil.
