• Injured Nadal won't rush his return to tennis

Injured Nadal won't rush his return to tennis It could take another three weeks for Rafael Nadal to make it back to tennis. The Spaniard has said that he will not return to the sport until his chronic knees allow him to play at a competitive level.

Nadal made his pronouncement as he recalled the pain of his decision to pull out of the London Olympics starting next weekend. "I was scared to take the decision, but this is something that happens," he told Reuters TV. "You never know if it happens only one time in life bringing the flag of my country to the Olympics with all the sports family of Spain there.

"All I can say is that I did as much as I could to be there and to be ready but it wasn't the right time. My emotion and my dream to compete in the Olympics was more than ever.

"When I had to take the decision was the toughest moment. But it was something that I was thinking was going to happen for the last six, seven days because the knee was not improving."

While Nadal, who has not played since his second-round Wimbledon loss to Czech Lukas Rosol three weeks ago, ponders his current situation his uncle and coach Toni has also been thinking ahead. The longtime mentor told Spanish media that Nadal's likely return would be the Cincinnati Masters next month, which begins only a fortnight prior to the US Open.

The player himself is keen to return as soon as possible, bur refuses to rush it. "The tournaments never stop so I will try to be ready for the American season but you never know; you have to work hard every day and see, go day by day and see how it improves," said the 2008 Beijing Games gold medalist. "I will compete when my knee says I am ready to compete. I don't want to go on court with bad feeling because then it is terrible."

Vamos Rafa!!!!

Your fans will patiently wait for your return even though tennis is not the same without you.

No need to rush as it will be counter productive. Rafa only has 10 points to defend in Canada, so he can afford to miss it and make sure he is fit and healthy before coming back.
