Harrison and Baghdatis advance in Eastbourne Ryan Harrison and Marcos Baghdatis moved into the AEGON International second round with wins on Monday.

Ryan Harrison def. Vasek Pospisil 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(6)

American Ryan Harrison overcame a slow start to defeat Canadian Vasek Popisil in a tight 3-set match. Harrison couldn’t keep up in the first set. The American faced the only two break points of the set, with Pospisil converting on one break point.

Harrison struggled with his first serve percentage in the second set, but Pospisil couldn’t gain any traction on the second serve return, and the set ended with the American winning all but 2 points on his second serve. Harrison outplayed Pospisil in the tiebreaker to level the match at a set a piece.

Pospisil fought hard in the third set tiebreaker. He went down 1-4 before battling his way back, but Harrison was once again better on the big points and he snagged the win.

Marcos Baghdatis def. Pablo Andujar (8) 6-1, 6-1

A run of bad results followed Spaniard Pablo Andujar to the grass courts of Eastbourne. The Spaniard, who nabbed the No. 8 seed at the tournament was completely dismantled at the hands of Baghdatis.

Andujar struggled mightily on serve. Baghdatis managed to win more than 50% of the points on Andujar’s serve and as a result, the Spaniard was hit off the court in under 50 minutes.
