    UNICEF Open - Melzer advances, Haase upset Third seed Jurgen Melzer is through to the second round after recording a comprehensive straight-sets victory over Igor Kunitsyn. The Austrian is joined in round two by wildcard Mate Pavic, who upset fourth seed Robin Haase.

    World No. 35 Jurgen Melzer made a successful start to the tournament, having ousted Russia’s Igor Kunitsyn on Monday. The veteran converted five of 9 break points en route to a 6-1, 6-1 victory in under an hour. Melzer completed the first-round effort without facing a break point in 7 service games.

    He will face Tatsuma Ito or qualifier Marton Fucsovics in the next round.

    (WC) Mate Pavic def. (4) Robin Haase 6-4, 7-6(2)

    World No. 640 Mate Pavic won his first tour-level match after upsetting 4th seed Robin Haase in straight sets. The 18-year-old Croatian tallied six aces through to a 6-4, 7-6(2) win in an hour and 17 minutes. Pavic ended the match with 74% of his first-service points captured.

    He is slated to take on qualifier Philipp Petzschner in the second round. The German dismissed Russian Dmitry Tursunov in his opener, 6-4, 6-2.
