Almagro completes Nice title defense World No. 14 Nicolas Almagro is once again champion at the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur, having ousted American Brian Baker Saturday afternoon. The Spaniard came through the final in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Third seed Nicolas Almagro captured his 12th ATP World Tour title after taking out qualifier Brian Baker on Saturday. The 26-year-old Spaniard tallied 11 aces and four service breaks through to a 6-3, 6-2 victory in 70 minutes of play.

Almagro broke to 4-3 in the opening set, then followed with a service break at 2-1 in set two.

The world No. 14 completed the championship-winning run with eight consecutive service games held and just 12 points surrendered on serve.

Almagro is twice a title winner for 2012, having taken his first at the Brasil Open in Sao Paolo.

He is slated to continue the European clay-court season at the French Open, where he meets Italy's Paolo Lorenzi in the first round.
