Argentina sweeps Roddick, Team USA Argentina has an insurmountable 2-0 lead over the USA after a pair of singles wins on Sunday in Dusseldorf. Carlos Berlocq and Leonardo Mayer beat Andy Roddick and Ryan Harrison, respectively.

Andy Roddick's 2012 clay-court debut did not last long at the World Team Cup in Dusseldorf on Sunday afternoon. Roddick fell 6-2, 6-2 to Carlos Berlocq in one hour and 30 minutes as Argentina surged to a 2-0 lead over the Americans.

Berlocq, who is a stellar 17-12 for the season, served at 84 percent and held all but one of his service games. The 38th-ranked Argentine dominated his opponent from the baseline and broke serve five times.

Roddick had not played since the Sony Ericsson Open in late March, when he upended Roger Federer before losing to Juan Monaco. The 29-year-old American won a horrendous three of 20 second-serve points to completely doom his chances against Berlocq.

Combined with Leonardo Mayer's three-set win over Ryan Harrison, the Argentines have an insurmountable lead heading into Monday's doubles match. Mayer prevailed 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in two hours and 25 minutes.
