• Murray learning to live with his buzz-cut

Murray learning to live with his buzz-cut Andy Murray has been getting used to his new buzz-cut look this week in Barcelona, with the Scot's newest look actually revealed to have been the result of a self-styling blunder.

British media - quick on the case of anything involving the world No. 4 - reported that the pre-Monte Carlo "trim" came about as the Scot tried to give himself a little clip to start the clay season.

But being unfamiliar with the barber shears he borrowed, Murray got the setting wrong and ended up with his ultra-short cut.

"Andy borrowed some clippers from fitness trainer Matt Little, and didn’t know that it would be so short," his mother Judy told the The Tennis Space. "Once he had started shaving his head at grade one, there was no going back.

"He had to carry on as you couldn’t have the hair different lengths. So he hadn’t worked out the settings on the clippers before he used them. Doesn’t matter, though. I like the haircut.”

British tabloids went to town, analyzing the newest iteration of Murray. One went quite over the top as well, calling the no-nonsense 'do "a rallying call for the nation. It’s a sign that says 'I’m no longer happy to be a fringe success. I want to be No. 1.'"

Murray is working this week in Barcelona with coach Ivan Lendl and will pause before starting the Madrid Masters a week from Sunday.
