• Murray advances in Barcelona

    4/24/12 6:49 PM | Cheryl Murray
Murray advances in Barcelona No. 2 seed Andy Murray had a routine day at the office, with the Scot moving through to the round of 16 with a win over Sergiy Stakhovsky.

World No. 4 Andy Murray didn’t have to over-tax himself in this straight-set victory over the Ukraine’s Sergiy Stakhovsky. The Scot only served at 50% for the match, but in the end, it wasn’t his serve that won the match for him, it was his return.

Stakhovsky had a miserable time winning points on his own second serve. Murray won 64% of the points off the Ukrainian’s second serve, a statistic that Stakhovsky simply couldn’t overcome in the end. Murray managed to break serve three times, while facing and staving off just 2 break points on his own serve.

The win sends Murray into the round of 16, where he will face the winner of Santiago Giraldo and Robin Haase.
