    Ferrer, Del Potro reach third round World No. 5 David Ferrer advanced to round three at the BNP Paribas Open after scoring a routine victory over Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov. The Spaniard is joined by fellow seed Juan Martin Del Potro, who downed qualifier Marinko Matosevic.

    Fifth seed David Ferrer is through to the third round, having ousted Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. The veteran converted five of five break points through 67 minutes of play. Ferrer completed the second-round effort with 23 of 27 first-service points captured.

    He is scheduled to take on Denis Istomin for a place in the round of 16. Istomin held on to upset 31st seed Juan Ignacio Chela in round two, 7-6(5), 6-7(7), 7-5.

    (9) Juan Martin Del Potro def. (Q) Marinko Matosevic 7-5, 6-2

    World No. 9 Juan Martin Del Potro reached round three by virtue of his straight-sets ousting of Australian qualifier Marinko Matosevic. The Argentine secured a service break at 5-5 in the opening set, then followed with a break at 1-1 in set two. He ended the one-hour, 49-minute contest with 10 consecutive service games held.

    Del Potro will meet 19th seed Fernando Verdasco in the next round. The Spaniard defeated Ryan Sweeting in the second round, 6-2, 6-2.
