    3/9/12 2:32 AM | Kelli DeMario
In-form Federer heads to BNP Paribas Open World No. 3 Roger Federer will be looking to win his third title of the year, as the ATP World Tour stops in Indian Wells, California for the BNP Paribas Open. The 16-time Grand Slam winner enters the draw seeded third.

World No. 3 Roger Federer heads to Indian Wells with momentum, having captured his second title of the season in Dubai. The 30-year-old veteran secured his 72nd title with a straight-sets victory over world No. 4 Andy Murray.

The 18-time Masters 1000 champion is bidding for his fourth BNP Paribas Open title.

Federer leads a competitive quarter of the draw that includes (6) David Ferrer, (9) Juan Martin Del Potro, (14) Gael Monfils, (19) Fernando Verdasco, (20) Jurgen Melzer, (27) Milos Raonic and (31) Juan Ignacio Chela.

Additional players in the quarter are Ivan Dodig, Grigor Dimitrov, Yen-Hsun Lu, Denis Istomin, Thomaz Bellucci and former world No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko.

After a first-round bye, the Swiss is scheduled to commence his run against either Dmitry Tursunov or wildcard Denis Kudla.

A victory in the opening-round will likely set a third-round meeting with Raonic. Successful progress through the draw may bring a round of 16 clash with Monfils and a quarterfinal collision with world No. 6 Ferrer.
