  • Judy Murray puts faith in coach Ivan

    2/22/12 2:55 AM | Johan Lindahl
Judy Murray puts faith in coach Ivan Andy Murray's biggest fan - his mother and one-time coach Judy - is convinced that her son's new arrangement with Ivan Lendl will pay big dividends for her boy.

Murray has had a rough go during Grand Slam finals, losing all three that he's played.

But Judy Murray is convinced her world No. 4 son has found a winning formula. After exiting in an Australian Open semifinal to Novak Djokovic in what Lendl praised as a decent effort, Murray skipped Davis Cup for Britain and got himself to his training base in Miami.

There he hooked up with 51-year-old Florida-based Lendl for more training prior to a planned fight to Dubai this weekend for next week's ATP event in the Gulf. "Ivan has already had a huge impact on him mentally," Judy Murray told British media. "It will be very interesting to see what happens in the next three to six months as that’s when we’ll start to notice the difference.

"Ivan was well known during his playing career for his intensity on court and he will certainly help Andy with the mental edge."

Lendl owns eight Grand Slam titles and came aboard after Murray had gone coach-less for a year and a half. Judy is convinced Lendl can help her son to Olympic glory in London as well, where he is likely to play with his brother Jamie in doubles for Britain.
