Former World No. 8 Jurgen Melzer will commence the Davis Cup tie for Austria, as he takes to the court against Igor Kunitsyn. Russia’s Alex Bogomolov is set to contest the second singles rubber against Andreas Haider-Maurer.

World No. 40 Jurgen Melzer trails Igor Kunitsyn 2-0 in the head-to-head series. The two last met at the 2011 US Open, where the Russian rallied to win a second-round match in five sets.
Melzer is slated to play his 25th Davis Cup tie for Russia this weekend. The 30-year-old veteran has tallied 16 singles victories since his debut in 1999.
Kunitsyn is bidding for his second singles win for team Russia. The 30-year-old enters the tie looking to record his first victory in 2012. Kunitsyn is 0-4 after suffering four straight opening-round losses this year.
Alex Bogomolov vs. Andreas Haider-Maurer
World No. 34 Alex Bogomolov will be making his Davis Cup debut for Russia on Friday. The 28-year-old is 5-3 for the 2012 season.
World No. 127 Andreas Haider-Maurer will attempt to win his second singles rubber for Austria. The 24-year-old is 1-1 in competition after participating in two Davis Cup ties.
