Bernard Tomic feels police are trying to make an example of him after the teenaged player was told to report to Queensland traffic court on Valentine's Day.
Tomic, who reached the fourth round of the Open and it due to team with Lleyton Hewitt next week in Davis Cup against China in Geelong near Melbourne, was stopped twice in as many hours by police in his hometown Gold Coast last week as he cruised in his fire-orange BMW M3.
The probationary driver has special clearance form Queensland police to use the supercar for tennis duties only. Tomic says he's being singled out by police. "They've given me three tickets and one officer feels like he wants to get me and it's not a good feeling."
The youngster's latest legal run-in resulted in a standoff with cops outside the Tomic family home with the matter now set for the courts after charges that he illegally crossed double white lines and failed to stop when ordered by police.
"He has been charged with one count each of keeping to the left of the two continuous dividing lines and fail to stop a motor vehicle," read a police statement. "He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on February 14."
