Roger Federer will charge ahead into a full-schedule February on court while Rafael Nadal takes a rest after playing the Australian Open.
With Nadal now holding an 8-2 record over him in Grand Slams after winning their Melbourne semi-final, Federer is not one to despair. In fact, he's looking forward to lifting his game at three events next month.
Nadal won't be playing in February after announcing that he would take the month off to rest his longstanding shoulder problem. Federer is due to compete in the Davis Cup first round for Switzerland at home against the US, then headline at Rotterdam indoors before competing in Dubai.
"It's not that bad. Don't feel too sorry for me. I haven't lost in five months or something," Federer said after suffering his first defeat in an official match since missing on two match points a US Open semi-final against Novak Djokovic in September.
Since then, he won three straight 2011 tournaments, suffered a walkover due to a bad back in Dubai this month and raced through his field in Melbourne until hitting the Nadal wall.
"What's important is the reaction from here," said the methodical Swiss with a record 16 Grand Slam singles titles. "Where do I go from here? You know, start planning other trips. Start planning the preparations and have a good reaction like I showed after the US Open."

While Nadal rests, Federer might actually win something. ;)

OMG....LOL....
Who is he kidding? Is he simply lies or he is so delusional so he started to believe himself.... Maybe Mirka didn't count well...
From middle September... to middle January ... 4 months...LOL including off season...
including humiliation and total debacle in Abu Dhabi... and getaway from Doha...
"I haven't lost in five months or something" ... he so desperately tries to look good...
Oh... this was sweet... can't stop grinning ...
He's really becoming very amusing :)

...during the match???

Can't wait to watch you Roger. The USA have clearly given up on the davis cup tie.
Hope you can win Rotterdam and Dubai before the IW/Miami duo.
ALLEZ Roger!!

Roterdam.... YES... coz nobody is playing there... maybe he has a chance...
...the rest is... ridiculous... and you know that...

Totally forgot Roger won Basel, Paris and the WTF and that neither djokovic, murray or nadal played any of them, oh wait....
Djokovic has won the AO and that's very good but you're delusional to think he'll have a 2012 as good or better tham 2011.
Keep on dreaming.

though I wouldn't have been quite so confrontational about it (LOL), I agree with Bleck on this one. I don't think Nole is going to have a season this year like he did last year. We'll see. I certainly know that he wasn't anywhere near as dominant at this AO as he was at last year's edition.
We'll see though. I'm looking forward to this season a LOT.

Anyone said that Nole is only guy who can kick Roger now??? Only delusional Fedtards... anyone of top ten is completely able to win over him...
zare , 1/31/12 4:40 PM
You can't always be dominant. Just because Nole didn't win as easily as last year doesn't mean he was impressive. Wins against Murray and Nadal were more impressive than any win at the AO last year. Regardless, he still won.
As for Federer if Nole didn't tire out and Rafa got injured, he wouldn't have won anything.

Look forward to seeing your next set of matches. Also sometime in the far away future you would make a great Tennis Commentator. I love John Mac color commentary although he does not do it any more. Would love to hear and see you take that on but not until you are ancient! :) Colorado USA
