Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer will be on the court on Thursday as the second round of the Australian Open finishes.
Novak Djokovic (1) vs. Santiago Giraldo
Colombia’s Santiago Giraldo will have the difficult task of trying to stop Novak Djokovic’s win streak. The Serb is the defending Australian Open champion. The two men have played once before, back in 2007 on the red clay of Roland Garros. Djokovic won in easy straight sets. Any different outcome in this match would be a big shock. Djokovic gave up just two games in his first-round match against Italy’s Paolo Lorenzi.
Giraldo is ranked 56th in the world. He had good preparation for the Aussie Open, with a couple of wins in Brisbane and another win in Auckland, but against Djokovic he’ll be lucky to take a set. Prediction – The Serb in straight sets.
David Ferrer (5) vs. Ryan Sweeting
Spaniard David Ferrer has already won a title in 2012, collecting the trophy in Auckland a few days ago. He sailed through the opening round against Rui Machado, but Ryan Sweeting could put up more of a fight.
Sweeting, an up-and-coming American, sits at 68th in the world. He qualified for the tune-up event in Sydney and won a match before going out to Denis Istomin. Like many Americans, Sweeting has a good game for hard courts. He could challenge Ferrer for a set or two, but the Spaniard makes few mistakes and he’s too quick around the baseline for Sweeting to make a serious bid for this match. Ferrer in straight sets.

Nole's flying under the radar. Another brilliant performance following a relatively slow start.

What's up with Ryan Sweeting? Pretty good match from him against Ferrer.
