Roger Federer shares his quarter with out-of-form American Mardy Fish as his other top seed, but Alexandr Dolgopolov lurks as a possible round of 16 opponent.
Roger Federer’s first opponent is the Russian qualifier Alexander Kudryavtsev, but the Swiss’s tournament will start in earnest in the fourth round, where Alexandr Dolgopolov or Australian Bernard Tomic could be waiting.
The top half of Federer’s section is headed by Mardy Fish, but the American has been off the boil in 2012. The world No. 3 is far more likely to face Juan Martin Del Potro, who is finally healthy after a long road back from surgery.
No. 8 Mardy Fish had a difficult tune-up in Perth at the Hopman Cup, but he will have to find his game to get past opening round opponent Gilles Muller.
The quarterfinal from this quarter should feature Federer and Del Potro.

Fed is in the same quarter as Delpo. The photo is the last time we have a pic of Roger and Martin together.
Roger is going to the semis for sure, bleck. Gets dicey from there on out though.

nadline - didn't you know that they're fed-blind on here. like most other places.
and delpo ain't been looking 'on the boil' either, by the way.

Alex - a valid point about Delpo. There probably isn't anything between Roger and the semis.

Don't know yet Cheryl. Let's see how Fed's back hold up and how he and Delpo play their matches before jumping into conclusion.

The blog is about Federer and Nadal being in the same half at the AO with a picture of Delpo and Federer at the USO.
