1/9/12 4:15 AM | Cheryl Murray
Andy Murray continued on his tear through the Brisbane draw with a win over the Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov in Sunday’s final.
Andy Murray will head into the Australian Open with the perfect preparation of having won a title. The Scot had to shake off the rust in his first two rounds at the Brisbane International, but once he hit his stride, the top seed was an unstoppable force.
No. 3 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov wasn’t able to make much of a dent at all on the Murray serve, and the Scot’s return game completely dismantled his serve. Dolgopolov was able to secure a single service break in the match, but the victory was short-lived.
Murray’s win, along with new coaching talent in the form of Ivan Lendl, will make the world No. 4 one of the top contenders at the Australian Open, starting in just over a week in Melbourne.
