Next week's elite AAMI Classic Australian Open warm-up event has added Andy Murray to the mix after the Scot said he was keen to play a practise match in the days leading up to the January 16 start of the major.
As a result, he and Argentine David Nalbandian will play in a one-off contest on the fringes of the eight-man Grand Slam tuneup from January 11-14.
While not an official member of the field featuring Americans Mardy Fish and Andy Roddick plus the French pair of Gael Monfils and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the No. 4 Murray remains a crowd-pleaser.
Murray is top seed this week in Brisbane but has no event scheduled next week while former No. 3 Nalbandian is trying to recover from 2011 leg surgery. He has played Kooyong on four previous occasions. Also in the official field: No. 7 Tomas Berdych, Austrian Jurgen Melzer, Aussie Bernard Tomic and Canadian Milos Raonic.
