    No. 3 seed Dolgopolov advances in Brisbane 2011 Australian Open quarterfinalist Alexandr Dolgopolov started off his 2012 season in winning style.

    Alexandr Dolgopolov (3) def. Alejandro Falla 7-6(3), 6-2

    Young Ukrainian hopeful Alexandr Dolgopolov began his Brisbane International bid with a win over Colombia’s Alejandro Falla. Dolgopolov, who lost in the second round in Brisbane last year at the hands of Andy Roddick, hit 5 aces on the day, but he served at just 49% for the match.

    Dolgopolov will take on the winner of Adrian Mannarino or a qualifier in the second round, as he inches closer to a possible date with No. 2 seed Gilles Simon in the semifinals.
