Big-serving Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov will make his 2012 debut on the courts in Brisbane against Alejandro Falla.
Alexandr Dolgopolov had his big breakthrough almost a year ago at the Australian Open. The Ukrainian carved his way through the draw, taking out seeds Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Robin Soderling before going out in the quarterfinals to Andy Murray.
Dolgopolov had an up-and-down season and eventually ended the year ranked 15th in the world. His last tournament of 2011 resulted in a round of 16 showing at the Paris Masters.
His first-round opponent is Alejandro Falla of Colombia. Falla is ranked 74th in the world and is generally thought of as a clay-courter.
This should prove to be fairly routine for the Ukrainian. The No. 3 seed should advance easily.
Joining Dolgopolov on court will be the American Jesse Levine, ranked 164th in the world. Levine will take on a young Australian called Maverick Banes, who currently sits at No. 701 in the world.

Dolgopolov's serve is decent, but he won't blow Falla off the court. He will simply out-junkball him.
Levine is on fire and should dispose rapidly of the maverick.
