The Brisbane International won't be caught out again by the floods of 11 months ago which almost wrecked the tournament facility.
When the event starts on January 2 with Andy Murray making his debut after being lured away from the rival Hopman Cup in Perth, a set of improvements will be in place.
"The venue is ready to welcome some of the world's best tennis players to Brisbane in January," said Phil Reeves, the Queensland sport minister who inspected the improved facility. "Just two days after Robin Soderling defeated Andy Roddick in the men's final, flood waters inundated the venue.
"At one point, water in Pat Rafter Arena was over the umpire's chair."
Improvements at the ATP-WTA event will include larger player change rooms, more gym facilities, extra space for media, refurbished corporate dining and a dedicated player entrance with direct access to the change rooms and Centre Court.
They are also hoping that flooding is just a memory after half of the huge state was inundated last January prior to a cyclone strike in early February in the far north of the state.
