  • Nadal in great mood after Davis Cup success

    12/6/11 4:57 PM | Johan Lindahl
Nadal in great mood after Davis Cup success Rafael Nadal has rescued his 2011 season by leading Spain to Davis Cup triumph over Argentina.

And with only three weeks off before starting his season with a big-paying boost at the Abu Dhabi exhibition from December 29, the 25-year-old is finally feeling good about his game again.

"This is a very good way of finishing the year after a long year," said the celebratory Spaniard. "It’s helped me.

"I've been working really hard, so it’s been very good to finish the season this way, I’m very happy. I’m very grateful to my colleagues who helped me in this final. I'm glad to be able to enjoy the (Davis Cup) triumph. This will be a very important memory."

Nadal said he's not sure of where on his bulging display shelf he will put his replica Davis Cup trophy, fifth for Spain since 2000. "Emotionally and sentimentally, this is something which is good for me. It’s very special. Unforgettable."

The world No. 2 won only three ATP titles and was knocked out in the group stages of the World Tour Finals in London, but he says he cannot be more pleased with his overall showing from January to December.

And so am I Rafa..............!!!

But you must blame ureself for after winning one GS, winning 3 MAsters titles and reaching so many finals that it is considered to be a very paultry 2011 season!!!...........geeze.......u just cant please them, can you Rafa?!!!!

Rafa made 10 finals including 3 GS, won 3 titles plus a DC trophy, ended the year as No 2 and some people make out that he's had a bad year, worse than someone who only made the fianl of 1 GS.

Of course it all depends on what is expected of you. Those who go on and on about how dreadful Rafa's year has been only demonstrate their high opinion of who he is.

^^^^^^^^is this what you mean by nuance?

You might think you are miss smarty pants but you very often get things wrong too. You know exactly what monalysa meant so lay off having a go at people for petty stuff. I know you love a fight Sienna but I am afraid you are going to have to do that all by yourself.

By the way Rafa has got more passion in his little finger than some people have in their whole body.

Have a nice day :)

I think Nadal has had a great year and it has taken Djokovic having one of the best tennis years ever and playing at a superhuman level to stop him. People should cut Nadal some slack hes hardly regressed if at all, next year should be interesting, looking forward to Del Potro coming back, watched the Davis Cup match against Rafa, even though he should have taken the forth set hes not far off.
