Opportunistic burglars in Switzerland may have been keeping an eye on tennis developments in London at the weekend when they broke into the home of World Tour Finals runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The robbery in the village of Gingins located in the French-speaking west of the country between Geneva and Lausanne apparently took place as Tsonga was playing the year-end final against Roger Federer.
Swiss media reported a neighbour sounded the alarm early Monday morning when he saw a light on at 4 a.m. in the 200-square-meter Tsonga villa, but no sign of the player's Audi parked anywhere around. The alarm system also apparently failed to function.
Investigations showed that a door had been propped open, apparently to haul away the takings form the home of the world No. 6, a villa equipped with comforts including a Jacuzzi.
The easy-going Frenchman Tsonga took it all in stride: "I hope I recognise my house on the way", he told L'Equipe.
His loss might be eased by the three quarters of a million dollars he won at the year-end event where he lost the final in three sets to Federer.

Poor old Tsonga. That will teach him to beat Rafa in the decider.
