World No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is through to the championship final after taking out World No. 7 Tomas Berdych in straight sets. The Frenchman will take on defending champion Roger Federer for the title on Sunday.
Sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced to the last match at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, having ousted Tomas Berdych in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. The 26-year-old held ten of 11 service games through 94 minutes of play.
Tsonga broke to 4-3 in the opening set, as Berdych pushed a backhand long. The World No. 6 continued his effort into set two, taking service breaks at 3-3 and 5-5. After reaching match point at 6-5, Tsonga ended the evening with a well-timed ace.
"It's a good victory for me because I was really tight," said Tsonga. "I didn't play a good tennis, but I won. This is the goal of this sport. I did it tonight. So I'm just really happy to reach this final.
"All the time (it's) really exciting to play against Roger. It's going to be really special here, for my first final. It's going to be an amazing atmosphere I think on the court, and I like that. I'm sure I will respect Roger a lot and play my best tennis."
Federer made the final by virtue of his 12th straight career victory over World No. 5 David Ferrer
