  • Federer back in World Tour Finals title match

    11/27/11 4:31 AM | Ricky Dimon
Federer back in World Tour Finals title match Roger Federer takes care of David Ferrer in straight sets on Saturday in London. Federer will go up against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for the title.

Defending champion Roger Federer is one win away from repeating at the World Tour Finals after defeating David Ferrer 7-5, 6-3 during semifinal action on Saturday. Federer improved to 12-0 lifetime against Ferrer after one hour and 25 minutes of play.

Both players had displayed impressive form throughout round-robin action, but they struggled during a sloppy first set. Federer gave Ferrer plenty of chances, none of which were converted. The Spaniard was two points away from the set on six different occasions with Federer serving at 4-5, but the world No. 4 managed to hold.

That game proved to be both the turning point of the match and Ferrer's undoing. Federer promptly seized the first break of the afternoon for 6-5 and served out the opening frame of play one game later with little trouble.

An early break in set two gave Federer a commanding lead that he never came close to relinquishing. The Swiss dropped a mere one point in his last four service games. For good measure, though, he ended the proceedings with his third break of the day at 5-3. Federer capitalized on his second match point by forcing his opponent into an error after a big forehand.

Next up for Federer is familiar foe Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. They have already faced each other seven times this season, including last weekend in the tournament's first round-robin match. Federer prevailed in three sets and leads the season series 5-2.

Th etwo best players at the moment plat the final of WTF. They played so much against eachother that is always a litle dangerous for the supposed better player. That stil is Fed although some see in Tsonga, Berdych, Ferrer, Delpotro Soderling players to stop Fed in his tracks and beat him at the slams to come now that Djokovic Nadal are somewhat out of contention. Well Nadal is out you read except for Garros.

And another easy win.... I really had he feeling that he had a few gears left. Only Tsonga has pushed him during the WTF, the others couldn't really hurt him.
Just one more win to go....
