Novak Djokovic will get a short period of much-needed downtime after exiting the World Tour Finals exhausted and beaten.
The world No. 1 went down in a final group match in three sets to fellow Serb Janko Tipsarevic and was then officially knocked out as Tomas Berdych won Group A honors.
Quite frankly, that all seems just fine to Djokovic, who started the month with just two losses and 10 titles but suffered his fourth defeat in less than three weeks to end his season 70-6.
"The body says that it‘s overloaded, it‘s been too much this year," said Djokovic. "Obviously mentally I feel a little bit drained, as well. I just don‘t have that freshness in my mind for the matches and I don‘t have these dynamics that I had in all 10 months of the year.
"This is something to be expected after a year that I had. I look forward to go for a much needed rest. I lost a match that I thought I was going to win. I really don't want to go back and see what I could do better or maybe in order to prepare for this tournament. Everything happens for a reason. I believe it's like that.
'I had an unbelievable year - nothing can really ruin that. I will always remember this year as the best of my life. I just want to prepare well for 2012."
