Roger Federer is psyched for a finishing sprint over the last two events of the season, with the Swiss primed for Paris and London to wind up 2012 in winning style.
After claiming his second trophy of the season last week in Basel after a 10-month title drought, world No. 4 Roger Federer stands just a handful of points behind October Asian dominator Andy Murray in the rankings chase, with any slip by the Scot an opportunity for the Swiss.
Federer said that taking six weeks off after September Davis Cup and resting his body has paid dividends, starting with his fifth Basel title. "There were several little things. I had a problem with my wrist, I hurt myself playing against (Jo-Wilfried) Tsonga (US Open), and in Australia (Davis Cup) also I hurt myself.
"It was the thigh, and I had something new with my ankle. They were all little things, nothing very serious except maybe my wrist. It scared me because it's dangerous there. But I just needed two or three weeks, so that seemed normal not to go to Asia at all."
The 16-time Grand Slam winner added: "I was disappointed, but it was great for me to have, for once, six weeks in a row. It gave me a chance to do everything I wanted to do in practice, outdoors, also holidays and my family. I've been playing 10, 12 years in a row from January to November."

I read it twice, thought I was seeing things. What if though, Johan Lindahl, as he`s in 2012, were to tell us who wins all the slams, we could place our bets, we`d be quids (£s) in. Oh if its not too much how about the euro millions numbers for the next roll over jackpot?

Geeeez... one more proof that Lindahl don't have idea what he is writing about.
It is not typo... error in title... then repeated in text... hilarious...
Hang on to gossip page Johan... that's better for'ya :))

Great photograph Johan!
Did you mean that Roger was going to win many event next year as well as this year and finish in style?
Fleur , 11/10/11 6:47 AM
He won exactly two minor titles this year, no more no less...and he would be lucky if he could successfully defend these titles next year!

"...and he would be lucky if he could successfully defend these titles next year!"
And could you enlighten us to why that is?
Roger has 8 finals (5 of them in past 5 years), 5 titles in Basel so I think he has a good chance of winning it again next year.

Another year would have been added to his geriatric muscles, that's why :-)

I thought we were still in 2011.
I've always assumed that compositional oddities in Johan Lindahl's reports are usually caused by the translation from Swedish to English, but the Swedes must be living in the future for this report's heading and introductory paragraph to make any sense.
