Novak Djokovic is putting his six-week injury drama in the rearview mirror as the top seed starts to motor at the Swiss Indoors.
After an impressive win into the quarter-finals over Pole Lukasz Kubot, the Serb world No. 1 admits he's getting comfortable again with his powerful game.
"I felt good on court, I'm happy to be playing better," said the 2009 champion after a win in less than an hour. I expected that I would struggle with rhythm after not playing for six weeks. But I have no complaints with my game."
The winner of ten titles - including three Grand Slams - in 2011 stands at an impressive 66 victories and three defeats. His form in Basel shows he's well on the way to completely overcoming the back problems which forced him out for a month and a half.
But the road back is not one-way traffic: "I'm not 100 percent and to be honest I don't expect to get there this week, I would be surprised if I did," said Djokovic, who lost the Basel final a year ago to Roger Federer in the Swiss ace's hometown.
"I only started serving a few days before my first match and I could tell I was lacking rhythm on second serve. But it was getting better today. I need to stay positive and increase the rhythm and intensity of each match."
