Jo-Wilfried Tsonga got out of tricky second set against Germany’s Daniel Brands to advance in straight sets to the Vienna final against Juan Martin Del Potro.
The first set of this semifinal match was routine for the world No. 9. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The Frenchman battered Daniel Brands with his big first serve/forehand combination. Tsonga won a pair of service breaks without ever facing a break point.
Brands kept the second set tight. The German fought off all 5 of the break points Tsonga had against him to force a tiebreaker. Unfortunately for Brands, Tsonga continued to serve beautifully. The Frenchman closed out the match in the breaker with no break points against him.
Tsonga moves into Sunday’s final against Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro, another big hitter.
