Juan Martin Del Potro is searching for his best tennis after a slow start to the indoor season, with the December 2-4 Davis Cup final against Spain approaching.
The 15th-ranked Argentine is playing this week as second seed in Vienna after going out in his first round match last week in Stockholm.
But the upcoming Davis Cup clash is coloring everything the 2009 US Open winner does on court in the coming weeks. And improvement is top of the to-do list for the 23-year-old.
"This year we play away on clay courts," Del Potro said. "It's very difficult to beat (Rafael) Nadal at home, but we have a good team with (David) Nalbandian, (Juan) Monaco and (Juan) Chela. Maybe we can cause an upset. It is probably the trickiest final for Argentina."
Del Potro stands 42-14 on the season with titles in Delray Beach on hard courts and in Estoril on clay.
