Marcos Baghdatis is determined to give a major push over the closing weeks of the season with the one-time Australian Open finalist hoping to pick up his first title in almost two years.
It was back in January, 2010 that the smiling Cypriot last lifted a trophy as he won Sydney. His latest brush with glory was a losing final in Kuala Lumpur three weeks ago to Janko Tipsarevic.
But the world No. 59 is now aiming to try for a rise in his fortunes as he closes out 2011, starting with this week's event in Vienna.
"The indoor season is tough, especially at the end of a year when guys are tired - I'm tired as well," admitted Baghdatis. "But that's where you have to push for two or three weeks, push until the end. Then there's a good holiday.
"I've just got to continue playing the way I am now: pushing, fighting and playing aggressive," he said.
Baghdatis broke even on 2011 as he reached the Vienna second round, lifting his season record to 26 wins and 25 losses.
