Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki will make their respective returns to hard-court action, as the ATP World Tour moves to Moscow for the third week of October. The compatriots are seeded first and second at the Kremlin Cup.
World No. 15 Janko Tipsarevic makes his return to competition, following a first-round loss to Feliciano Lopez in Shanghai. The 27-year-old has compiled a 44-22 record for the season, after putting together a maiden title-winning run in Kuala Lumpur.
He is a former finalist at the Kremlin Cup, having finished runner-up to Mikhail Youzhny in 2009.
Tipsarevic tops the half of the draw that includes: (4) Nikolay Davydenko, (6) Dmitry Tursunov and (8) Andreas Seppi. Additional combatants in the section are Julien Benneteau, Albert Ramos, Karol Beck, Teymuraz Gabashvili, Sergiy Stakhovsky and Igor Andreev.
Following a first-round bye, the World No. 15 is scheduled to begin his run against either Igor Kunitsyn or wildcard Andrey Kuznetsov in the opening round. The closest seed to the Serbian is Tursunov, who looms as a possible quarterfinal opponent. Successful movement through the draw may set a semifinal clash with Davydenko or Seppi.
Defending champion Viktor Troicki looks to regroup after a first-round exit in Shanghai. The 25-year-old leads the bottom half of the draw, alongside (3) Alexandr Dolgopolov, (5) Alex Bogomolov Jr., and (7) Gilles Muller.
Troicki will commence his Kremlin Cup bid against either Pere Riba or Andreas Haider-Maurer, after receiving an opening-round bye.
