  • Tsonga, Gasquet look to bounce back at home

Tsonga, Gasquet look to bounce back at home Coming off blowout Davis Cup losses to Rafael Nadal, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet have a chance to rebound in their home country this week. Tsonga is the top seed at the Moselle Open ahead of Gasquet, Alexandr Dolgopolov, and Ivan Ljubicic.

To say the Davis Cup semifinals did not go well for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet would be an understatement.

Rafael Nadal was a one-man wrecking crew over the weekend in Cordoba, Spain as the host nation hammered France 4-1. Tsonga at least managed to earn the doubles point for the visitors, but he got blown out by Nadal 6-0, 6-2, 6-4 in Sunday's clincher. Gasquet won even fewer games against Nadal in a 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 thrashing in Friday's opener.

Now, though, Tsonga and Gasquet are back in the friendly confines of their own country for Metz's Moselle Open. They will also have plenty of rest thanks to first-round byes as the first and second seeds, respectively.

Tsonga is in a difficult top half of the draw. He could face Michael Llodra--his Davis Cup doubles partner--in the quarters before a potential semifinal showdown against familiar foe and No. 3 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov. The up-and-coming Ukrainian, however, will have to make it out of a section that also features Marcos Baghdatis and Xavier Malisse.

Gasquet has a more friendly path in the bottom half of the bracket. Fourth-seeded Ivan Ljubicic has been slumping and No. 7 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber is not playing his best tennis at the moment. Potential roadblocks for Gasquet prior to the title match could include Grigor Dimitrov and the winner of a first-round clash between Gilles Muller and Philipp Petzschner.

Another opening-round matchup to watch is Llodra against fellow Frenchman and occasional doubles partner Arnaud Clement, who got a wild card into the event.
