Tournament seed Mardy Fish advanced to the second round of the US Open, having ousted Tobias Kamke in three sets. The American is joined in round two by Alejandro Falla, who upset 15th seed Viktor Troicki in five.

Eighth seed Mardy Fish breezed into the second round, having downed Tobias Kamke in straight sets. The 29-year-old American converted seven of 8 break points, en route to a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 victory in 103 minutes. Fish completed the first-round effort with four aces and 28 winners.
He will take on qualifier Malek Jaziri in the next round.

Alejandro Falla is through to round two, after rallying to upset 15th seed Viktor Troicki in five sets. The 27-year-old saved a trio of match points at 4-5 in the fourth set. Falla regrouped to take a critical service break at 5-5 in the deciding set. He ended the four-hour contest with 40 winners and six service breaks.
Falla is slated to meet veteran Tommy Haas for a place in the third round.
