World No. 15 Andy Roddick is set to return to hard-court action for the final week of August, as he heads to Winston-Salem for the first tournament in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
World No. 15 Andy Roddick looks to regroup after a disappointing run at the Western & Southern Open last week. The top seed suffered a surprise exit, having fallen to Philipp Kohlschreiber in his opening-round match. Roddick is 21-10 for the season.
Roddick has been placed in the same half of the draw that includes: (4) John Isner, (7) Juan Monaco, (8) Marcos Baghdatis, (11) Dmitry Tursunov, (12) Pablo Andujar, (13) Jarkko Nieminen and (15) Santiago Giraldo.
After an opening-round bye, Roddick is slated to begin his run against either Albert Ramos or Lukas Rosol. The closest seed to the World No. 15 is Giraldo, who looms as a possible round of 16 opponent. Successful movement through the draw may set a quarterfinal clash with Monaco.
Should the seeds hold through the tournament, Roddick looks toward a possible meeting with 8th seed Baghdatis.
Joining the American as the second seed is Jurgen Melzer. The veteran Austrian tops the bottom half of the draw that hosts (3) Alexandr Dolgopolov, (5) Nikolay Davydenko, (6) Kevin Anderson, (9) Sergiy Stakhovsky, (10) Robin Haase, (14) Grigor Dimitrov and (16) Igor Kunitsyn.
Following a first-round bye, Melzer will open his bid against either Igor Andreev or Bernard Tomic.
