Roger Federer feels he's hitting his comfort zone with perfect timing for the US Open with the Swiss taking aim at a possible fifth career title in Cincinnati.
After crushing American James Blake for the tenth time in 12 meetings, the Swiss No. 3 is pleased with how his form has lifted after last week's third-round exit in Montreal to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
"I don't know if I'm playing better, but I'm feeling better," he said after thrashing Blake in 54 minutes. "I just didn't think against Tsonga, that was a disappointing end.
"This match was very different. Tonight and the other night with (Juan) Del Potro I felt everything in my game I was happy with from start to finish. Sure, there were things I could have done better, but overall, I'm not giving away much right now and just being very focused on what I want to do.
"I think the took the right lessons out of Montréal."
Federer is spending what he hopes is a relaxing and winning week with his family in the area, renting a house to give his two-year-old twins a break from five-star hotel life on the road.
