Milos Raonic has returned home to Toroto to rehab after July 5 hip surgery in Vail, Colorado, an injury suffered from a sliding fall during a Wimbledon second-rond match.
The Montreal Gazette reports all is going well, but the date of his return to the ATP remains uncertain.
Ideally, the US Open starting in five weeks cold be a target, but the big-hitting youngster might heal even faster and could test himself at a late run-up event. Raonic has been keeping his fans informed by Tweeting and also told Canadian media that his comeback remains an open question. "I'm taking it week by week. The doctor really didn’t give any limitations.
"Leg strength has never been an issue for me, but I wasn't walking for awhile so I lost a bit of that. Getting that back, and feeling competitive and 100 per cent - after that, I’ll be back on Tour. And the sooner the better.”
Raonic said that he believes that at age 20, he can heal fast. "I train a few weeks in the summer anyway, so it made a lot of sense to me (to have the operation). I just wanted to put it in the past, put it behind me.”
The Canadian said that in the days after his injury, he received messages of support from world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and his camp plus Roger Federer and his coach Paul Annacone, formern Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro.
