While Andy Murray is still without a fulltime coach, the man with whom he split a year ago, fellow Scot Miles Maclagan, has already moved onto his second ATP client since parting company with the world No. 4 last July.
MacLagan has flown to Cyprus to start work with 2006 Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis after previously guiding German Philipp Kohlschreiber. The emphasis will be on getting Baghdatis fighting fit for the hardcourt tournament run to the August 29 start of the US Open.
MacLagan, who ended with Kohlschreiber after Wimbledon, will be the second coach in three months for Baghdatis, ranked 25th. His last mentor of just a few weeks was Argentina's Eduardo Infantino.
The fun-loving Cypriot, a one-time No. 8 who has been let down by injuries in recent seasons, is set to begins his cement campaign in a week in Los Angeles. His latest results have been modest, including first-week defeats in Paris and Wimbledon.
Both MacLagan and Baghdatis will be hoping the new collaboration is more successful that the Scotsman's time with Kohlschreiber as the German dropped out of the ranking 30s to 44th before pulling the plug on MacLagan.
