Jimmy Connors has joined the rest of the tennis talking heads by tipping 27th-ranked Milos Raonic as a face for the future.
The Canadian is recovering from hip surgery brought on by a fall on the grass in the Wimbledon second round last month.
While five-time Canadian semi-finalist Connors is inducted into a Hall of Fame on August 8 during a ceremony at the Montreal Masters, the 20-yar-old Raonic may or may not be in attendance.
But one thing's for sure - the Canadian hope who already owns a career title this season, is working to get his fitness back in time for the US Open and will not likely be able to play his home event.
Connors called the breakthrough player a big hope for the game. “I look for him to have a bright future if he goes about it the right way and works the right way,” Connors told the Canadian Press. "His future is in his hands. He’s big and strong and certainly he has one of the serves on the Tour that needs to be recognized."
The American, who turns 58 in September, said that Raonic needs more experience if he's to join the elite as hoped. "The more he gets and the more he understands what it takes to win big matches and eventually win big tournaments is something he’ll have to grasp along the way."
