American John Isner is now one match away from making the finals at the Tennis Hall of Fame. He will take on German Tobias Kamke.
John Isner vs. Tobias Kamke
John Isner is ranked 50 spots above world No. 96 Tobias Kamke. The German has had a good run in Newport so far this week, with wins over Donald Young and Alex Bogdanovic. However, Isner is a different caliber player than either of those players. Though he is ranked at 46, Isner has the talent to be in the top 20. The American possesses a monster first serve and he will have the full support of the Rhode Island crowd. Isner in straight sets.
Olivier Rochus vs. Michael Yani
Beligium’s Olivier Rochus will take on surprise semifinalist Michael Yani, an American ranked 361 in the world who had never won a single tour-level match coming into the Newport tournament. Rochus will go into this match as a heavy favorite. Though the same age as Yani, Rochus has 220 career wins and was a finalist in Newport last year. Prediction – Rochus in straight sets.
